How it started

My interest in health, fitness, and nutrition started long before BodyForge Wellness existed.

As an early teenager, I developed a severe eating disorder. For roughly a year, I struggled with food to the point where I lost around 40 pounds and became incredibly sick. At the time, I was completely consumed by the idea of losing weight. I spent hours researching food, calories, macronutrients, meal timing, satiety, and virtually anything else I could find that I believed would help me control my weight.

Eventually, I began to recognize how unhealthy my relationship with food had become. I knew I needed to make a change, and I decided to take the knowledge I had accumulated and use it in a completely different way: to rebuild my health.

I began intentionally gaining weight back, focusing on eating enough, understanding nutrition, and learning how to fuel my body properly. I also started exercising. At first, exercise was something I used to cope with the mental difficulty of gaining weight and eating more. But over time, that relationship changed.

Instead of exercising to compensate for food, I began exercising because I wanted to become stronger.

That shift changed everything.

Over the following year, my mindset gradually moved away from simply trying to be smaller and toward becoming healthier, stronger, and more capable. I became fascinated by strength training, nutrition, recovery, and the process of building a healthy body.

Eventually, friends around me began asking for help. Some were struggling to gain weight, others simply didn't know how to structure their nutrition, and I started putting together meal plans and helping them figure out how to eat for their goals.

That was the beginning of my interest in coaching.

What started as something I learned for myself eventually became something I genuinely wanted to help other people with.
